Since the last year, especially after the pandemic-induced lockdown, the Indian audience has been treated with several well-made web series. While the level of anticipation which determines the series’ popularity dramatically differs, it may not be a true measure of how good they actually turn out to be. We anyway thought of doing a comparative analysis (as of today) for some of the web series that have been released since the previous year.
But how do we precisely quantify the anticipation or the popularity quotient around a web series before its release? One way is to observe the total number of views for the web series’ official trailer released on YouTube. Another parameter can also be the number of likes (or dislikes) for the series’ trailer.
However, both these quantifications cannot probably be fool-proof and totally reliable parameters to gauge a series’ actual popularity. But since we can consider just one, we have taken into account the total number of trailer views. To make a list of the top five most popular web series. So, let’s see who wins this popularity war.

So, as per the total number of trailer views, The Family Season 2 tops the chart. However, it is noteworthy that the total number of likes for Mirzapur Season 2 is a whopping 16 lakh. While the total number of likes for The Family Man Season 2 lags behind at 7.69 lakh (second highest in the list). So, ‘Mirzapur’ beats ‘The Family Man S2’ on the number of likes parameter.
Another interesting observation that came to light is that the top four winners of the above list are all Amazon Prime Video’s web series. While the fifth spot is held by the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform.
