Mohanlal’s Thriller film, Drishyam 2 skipped its theatrical release and got released directly online on Amazon Prime Video. The movie has got huge applause and the audience is raving about its climax in particular. Jeethu Joseph, the director of the film is already flooded with offers to remake the film.
Tollywood Superstar Venkatesh and Bollywood Star Ajay Devgan are in talks for the Remake Rights already. They acted in the remake of Drishyam and the films worked in the respective languages as well. However, there are apprehensions if Drishyam 2 will work in other languages without making any changes.
“Back then, Drishyam was also released even before it was remade in other languages. It is a different case with Drishyam 2. The movie had a wider reach to the audience across the globe via Amazon Prime Video. Audiences irrespective of language are enjoying it with the subtitles. Knowing everything about the film, there are apprehensions if the remakes will work. If changes are made, they should live up to the expectations,” film experts say. Some other experts say the reach of OTT is still limited in the country and the movie can be still remade as it is for that audience. “Enjoying a film with local stars and in the native language is still a different experience,” they say.
