Neetu Chandra’s latest national award-winning Maithili film “Mithila Makhaan” is all set to launch on a very new and innovative platform “bejod.in”, today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. “Mithila Makhaan” is a her second production after Bhojpuri film “Deswa” that came out in 2011.
She founded “Champaran Talkies” along with his director brother Nitin Chandra. The idea behind the production company was to provide employment to local people in Bihar and improve the image of the State through the lens.
“Bejod.in”, by Champaran Talkies, is an OTT platform designated for best quality content in all the dialects of Bihar and Jharkhand, namely, Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, Vajjika and Angika. “The platform offers content across various categories like Movie, Music Videos, Short Films, Interviews, Documentaries, etc.”

“Maithili Makhaan” is the “story of Kranti Prakash who leaves his cosy lifestyle and job in Canada to start his grandfather’s dream of Makhaana (an indian agro food product) company which was closed down 35 years ago in flood stricken area of Northern Bihar, along the river Kosi.”
Directed by Nitin Chandra, “Mithila Makhaan” won the National Award in 2015 for Best Maithili Film and has an immensely talented cast ensemble of Kranti Prakash Jha (MS Dhoni, Raktanchal, Ramleela), Anurita Jha (Gangs Of Wasseypur 1 and 2) and Pankaj Jha (Black Friday, Gulaal, Chameli).
Popular singers like Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Swanand Kirkire, Udit Narayan and Hariharan have lend their amazingly melodious voice for songs in “Mithila Makhaan”.
While Chandra siblings kept looking for 4 years for a platform to showcase their award-winning film, they couldn’t find any takers. This led them to thinking and eventually come up with a platform of their own. “Bejod.in” is a breakthrough for local content makers in Bihar where they are no longer at the mercy of multiplexes or other OTT platforms.
