Mammootty‘s keenly anticipated crime thriller ‘Puzhu‘ has skipped theatres completely. The film will release directly on OTT, on SonyLIV. SonyLIV is the fastest-growing OTT platform in India. In keeping with its aggressive push to be a pan-India platform, SonyLIV will release Puzhu in multiple languages for the benefit of its multi-lingual subscribers. Puzhu will release on SonyLIV in the Malayalam original, along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
As for the OTT release date of Puzhu, SonyLIV hasn’t revealed a confirmed date yet. It has only posted an enigmatic ‘Coming Soon’ for the film. However, we reckon Puzhu will be an Eid and Akshay Tritiya release on SonyLIV, to please subscribers of diverse faiths. Going by this logic, Puzhu should release anytime around May 1 to May 3. It could also be April 29, for all you know.
Puzhu is a dark crime thriller, starring Mammootty, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nedumudi Venu, Athmiya Rajan, Malavika Menon, Indrans, among others. Mammootty plays an IPS officer with grey shades in Puzhu. It is produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, and directed by debutant director, Ratheena PT. Puzhu is producer Dulquer Salmaan’s second direct to OTT release on SonyLIV. He had earlier released his ‘Salute’ as a direct to OTT release on the same platform.
