Netflix India’s Top 10 Films & Series to Watch in the 18th July Week

For Netflix India’s top ten films list, the top-ranked title has been bagged by Jitendra Kumar starrer romantic comedy ‘Jaadugar’. While on the second and the third spots of the Netflix list are the action-adventure Hollywood movie ‘Uncharted’ and the rom-com ‘Ante Sundaraniki’.

On the Netflix top ten TV shows front, this week’s top spot has been bagged by the mystery sci-fi series ‘Manifest’ followed by the live-action survival horror series ‘Resident Evil’ and the globally acclaimed supernatural series ‘Stranger Things’.

Here’s the full list of the top ten movies and TV shows on Netflix India this week:

TOP 10 MOVIES ON NETFLIX INDIA THIS WEEK

10. RRR (Hindi)

Helmed by S.S Rajamouli, the blockbuster period action movie ‘RRR’ features Ram Charan and Jr.NTR in the lead roles and Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles. The film is a fictional tale set in the 1920s that revolves around two legendary Indian revolutionaries namely Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr. NTR).

9. Persuasion

Based on Jane Austin’s novel, the Netflix film follows a modern woman Anne Elliot (played by Dakota Johnson), who was once convinced to break her engagement with the attractive but socially inferior naval officer Frederick Wentworth, which had broken his heart. Around eight years later Anne meets Frederick again but this time, tables have turned as Frederick is now an affluent war hero and still a highly eligible bachelor. Will Anne get a second chance?

8. Ante Sundaraniki (Tamil)

Helmed by Vivek Athreya, the romantic comedy movie ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ revolves around the story of a Hindu boy Sundar (played by Nani) from a conservative Brahmin family and a Christian girl Leela (Nazriya Nazim) who are in love with each other. But they must convince their respective families for their inter-caste marriage but eventually find themselves in an amusing web of lies and the situation grows more complex.

7. Hurdang

It’s a romantic drama movie set in 1990s Allahabad which revolves around an IAS aspirant and student leader named Daddu Thakur (Sunny Kaushal) who gets involved in a rebellion related to caste-based reservation. This affects his relationship with his girlfriend Jhullan (Nushratt Bharuccha).

6. Sea Beast

The animated adventure movie revolves around a girl named Masie Brumble (Zaris-Angel Hator) who stows away on the ship of the legendary sea monster hunter Jacob Holland (Karl Urban) from whom she learns the tricks of the trade.

5. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Directed by Anees Bazmee, the comedy-horror flick is a standalone sequel to Priyadarshan’s 2007 film starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. The sequel features Kartik Aaryan as Ruhan, who meets a woman named Reet during a trip. Their chance encounter leads them to a haunted mansion in Rajasthan following which Ruhan poses as a psychic, leading to an interesting turn of events.

4. Major (Hindi)

The film is inspired by the life, love, and legacy of the hero of the 26/11 2008 Mumbai attacks – Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, an Indian Army officer who served in the elite Special Action Group of the National Security Guards (NSG). The film narrates the events of how Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan saved the lives of many hostages during the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks. Directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, Adivi Sesh plays the titular role, and the film also features Revathi, Prakash Raj, and Sobhita Dhulipala, etc.

3. Ante Sundaraniki

2. Uncharted

The film is an on-screen adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game of the same name and features Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the roles of fortune hunter Nathan Drake and his mentor Sully. The street-smart Nathan teams up with the experienced fortune hunter Sully and together they embark on a globe-trotting adventure and decipher clues to find a long-lost multi-billion-dollar treasure. The film also features Antonio Banderas in an important role.

1. Jaadugar

Directed by Sameer Saxena, the Netflix film ‘Jaadugar’ revolves around a small-time struggling magician named Magic Meenu (played by Jitendra Kumar), who lives in Neemuch town in MP. Despite no interest in sports, Meenu must now lead a down and out football team and win the coveted inter-colony football tournament – in order to marry his love interest (Arushi Sharma). The movie also features Jaaved Jaafery in an important role of a sports coach.

10. Money Heist

The show follows a hostage situation plotline masterminded by an enigmatic genius and his attempt to pull off a virtually impossible heist with the help of his skilled team.

9. Alchemy of Souls

The South Korean series is set in a fictional region Daeho where mages can use the titular magic spell ‘Alchemy of Souls’ to switch bodies. The story follows an elite warrior Nak-su (Jung So-min), who gets trapped inside the body of a blind woman and helps a man (Lee Jae-wook) from a noble family to change his fate.

8. All of Us Are Dead

Based on the webtoon ‘Now at Our School’, it’s a South Korean show where high school students are forced to fight a zombie outbreak in a battle for survival, in order to avoid becoming the infected creatures themselves. Killing or getting killed are the only two options left for them.

7. The Umbrella Academy

Based on the comic book series of the same name, the Emmy-nominated superhero show revolves around the daredevil adventures of a group of estranged superhero siblings. While dealing with their complex inter relationships, the superhero family team up to save the world.

6. Extraordinary Attorney Woo

The South Korean series follows the story of a young lawyer Woo Young-woo (played by Park Eun-bin), who is on the autism spectrum but is blessed with high IQ and a razor-sharp memory. The plot revolves around how she deals with life inside the courtroom and the law firm she works for while also dealing with various challenges that life throws at her.

5. She

The show’s plot revolves around a female police constable named Bhumika (played by Aaditi Pohankar), who is sent on an undercover mission to expose a drug cartel. Along the way and while dealing with her personal problems, the poor cop learns how her sexuality can be a game changer in her life.

4. Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight

The animated comedy series follows the globetrotting adventures of the reputed warrior Po (voiced by Jack Black), who joins hands with an English knight Wandering Blade in order to acquire four magical weapons. The mismatched duo must set aside their differences to stop a pair of infamous weasels and save the world from destruction.

3. Stranger Things

The latest season of the sci-fi horror series follows the aftereffects of the devastating Battle of Starcourt at the Hawkins town in Indiana. The show’s young protagonists are now living separately and trying to move on in their lives. At this juncture, a long-buried, supernatural threat that connects everything, emerges on Earth and the Upside Down. The fourth season’s first volume comprising seven episodes was released on 27th May while the second volume with two episodes came out on 1st July.

2. Resident Evil

The live-action series is based on Capcom’s globally popular and landmark survival horror video game series ‘Resident Evil’. Set around three decades after the discovery of the T-virus, the eight-episode show features Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, a character from the original game. The story focuses on a deadly outbreak which brings to light Umbrella Corp’s dark secrets.

1. Manifest

The mystery sci-fi series revolves around a group of passengers who somehow safely land after a turbulent flight. However, they soon learn that five years have already passed mysteriously in such a short time and the world has moved on after assuming that they were gone forever. They eventually realize that their second chance is meant for something greater.
