With only five days remaining, many can’t wait for the Mohanlal–Prithviraj starrer, ‘Bro Daddy’, to finally start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, around the globe. This will only be the second time that the “Lucifer trio” of Mohanlal, Prithviraj and Antony Perumbavoor will be joining forces – which means this film is even more special. Prithviraj directed the only Malayalam film that went on to earn Rs. 200 crores – so the hype behind this film is quite high. However, this film is also special to Prithviraj for another special reason – he is going to equal Fahadh Faasil‘s OTT record.
So what is this record?
Fahadh Faasil has been the film lead in four direct-to-OTT Malayalam releases so far, the only Malayalam actor to do so in ‘C U Soon’, ‘Irul’, ‘Joji’ and ‘Malik’. ‘C U Soon’, ‘Joji’ and ‘Malik’ all released directly for streaming on Amazon Prime Video while ‘Irul’ dropped on Netflix. Prithviraj has played a major role in three OTT releases so far – ‘Cold Case’, ‘Kuruthi’ and ‘Bhramam’; all of which are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. However, when ‘Bro Daddy‘ drops on Disney+ Hotstar on Republic day, Prithviraj will equal Fahadh Faasil’s record of being the film lead in the most amount of direct-to-OTT released Malayalam films – 4.
Prithviraj and Mohanlal will also be following in the footsteps of Fahadh Faasil, Tovino Thomas and Roshan Mathew by being a part of two direct-to-OTT releases which will drop on two different OTT platforms. ‘Bro Daddy’ will also be the first Malayalam film to release directly for streaming where the lead actor will also be directing the movie.
‘Bro Daddy’ will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on Republic Day, January 26th 2022.
