There is no exaggeration in saying Rajamouli‘s RRR is the most anticipated film in Indian cinema at the moment. The film is set to hit the silver screens on the 7th of January and the stakes are exceptionally high on the Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer. Now, coming to the topic, team RRR’s move is feared to affect the box office prospects of Pushpa: The Rise in the USA.
Going into the story, the advance bookings for RRR in the USA were opened on 17th December. The tickets are selling like hotcakes and as per early estimates, RRR’s pre-sales have breezed past $400K mark already, which is an astonishing feat, given the fact that is still close to 3 weeks to go for RRR’s release. While this news might sound like music to RRR’s followers, it is not all that encouraging for Allu Arjun’s Pushpa.
Now that RRR’s pre bookings are open, Pushpa’s box office revenues in the USA might take a beating. Especially, those who wish to play within the budget might opt for RRR rather than Pushpa. This wouldn’t have mattered if Pushpa: The Rise had garnered a unanimous positive response from the viewers. But now that Pushpa has opened to mixed reviews, the audience might be tempted to spend their money on RRR, said an observer.
Well, Pushpa: The Rise is also pretty well at the USA box office. The film is said to have minted $1 million+ gross at the USA box office(premieres and first day). While it might not entirely be affected due to RRR’s prebookings, the effect will most certainly be there and it can’t be denied.
RRR arrives in theatres on 7th January. The action drama has Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles.
