Finally, after months of waiting, the much awaited Suriya-starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is set to release on Amazon Prime Video. The film was supposed to release last month on 21st October 2020, but because the film couldn’t acquire an NOC from the Indian Air Force in time, the production house and OTT were forced to delay the premiere. But now, the film is finally releasing, and twitter has been going nuts for the past couple of weeks.
Ever since the announcement of the film release which happened almost 10 days ago, Tamil movie fans, particularly Suriya fans have been bombarding twitter with the hashtag #SooraraiPottruOnPrime. The actor has been getting praise from twitterati (before the film has even been released) and they have been providing additional promotional coverage for the film. In one tweet, Indian cricketer R. Ashwin is seen suggesting the movie to watch for Diwali. Check out these tweets, down below.
Fans have been clamouring from all over the world on social media due to the excitement of this feature film and for good reason. The released trailer was solid and the story is inspired by the life story of Air Deccan founder G.R. Gopinath, a true underdog story which most people can relate to. The film is also expected to be the first theater-skipped to OTT “hit” this year and we can’t wait for the movie to come out on to the digital space.
The film is about Maara, a former air force officer who decides to create a cheap, alternative airline for anyone to travel. He faces many various adversities in acquiring capital, navigating through bureaucracy and corrupt government officials, etc. The movie will show how he faced those unbeatable odds and climbed to the top.
The film will feature Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawa, Urvashi, Karunas, Vivek Prasanna, Krishnakumar, Kaali Venkat and Achyuth Kuma among others in prominent roles. The film is directed by acclaimed director Sudha Kongara and is produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga.
‘Soorarai Pottru’ will be released today on Amazon Prime Video at 10 pm.
