SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus, RRR, is all set to release in Japan. The Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer will release in the country on October 21. The makers broke this news via the movie’s official Twitter handle today.
The 3-hour historical action drama shattered various streaming records upon its arrival on Netflix. In June 2022, the movie received over 45 million hours of viewing, becoming the first Indian movie to do so on the streaming platform. The film nearly collected 1,200 crores during its theatrical run against its humungous 550-crore budget.
RRR now stands with a 91% rating (based on 55 reviews) on the Rotten Tomatoes platform in addition to receiving “universal acclaim” on Metacritic (83 out of 100). Stephanie Bunbury from Deadline Hollywood hailed the magnum opus as “bigger than Ben-Hur”. IndieWire’s Siddhant Adlakha wrote in his review that the film outshines the director’s previous venture, Baahubali. Plus, Hannah Kinney Kobre of Pittsburgh City Paper called it a “dudes rock movie”.
Even prominent Marvel helmers like James Gunn and Scott Derrickson have heaped praises for RRR on social media.
Helmed by SS Rajamouli, RRR stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Shriya Saran, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and many more. The film’s music department went to M. M. Keeravani. On the other hand, V. Vijayendra Prasad served as its writer. It is streaming on Netflix (Hindi) and ZEE5 (Telugu). Stay tuned for more updates.
