Telugu actor Allari Naresh‘s next, a hard-hitting drama, Naandhi is releasing this Friday in the theaters. The movie was earlier supposed to release on OTT but the makers dropped the idea after the government allowed 100% occupancy in the theaters. The actor, in an interview, was asked about the future of OTT in Telugu and why there are not many OTT projects made in Telugu.
“OTT is in a very nascent stage. If not for the Lockdown, it would have taken another two to three years for OTT to expand. OTT majors seem to be concentrating on Hindi more. They started focusing on South as well and Telugu turn will come very soon. We as an industry are still understanding the nuances and the business of OTT. We will see more of OTT projects in Telugu soon,” Naresh said.
“I am an actor and I am open to acting anywhere. I am open to doing OTT projects,” he added. Zee5 bagged the post-release digital rights of Naandhi. Naresh plays an undertrial prisoner, Surya Prakash who had to spend five years in jail for no wrong of his. A newcomer Vijay Kanakamedala directs this film in which Naresh even acted nude in a sequence.
