Amazon Prime Video has to weather a lot of flak and criticism for the kind of content that it has been producing of late. That is also one of the rumoured reasons as to why the release date of ‘The Family Man 2’ was pushed.
While series like Tandav and Mirzapur came under the scrutiny of the population things got really heated and even went to court due to the handling of the sensitivity of the topics that were portrayed. Samantha Akkineni is playing the antagonist here. Everyone was excited as Amazon Prime Video finally released the trailer of the much-awaited show but it did not take long for it to get bogged down into controversy.
Many people voiced the criticism that Tamil Nadu has been portrayed in a bad light in the trailer and hashtags such as (Shame On You Samantha and Family Man 2 Against Tamils) started trending on Twitter. Until now Samantha Akkineni has had to face the majority of the flak but the creators and the streaming platform could be on the wrong side of the limelight yet again.
Tandav was forced to make some cuts to their storyline which begs us to think that something similar may have to happen here to appease the majority but that will only start to leave loopholes in the story and gives it a bit of a disconnected feeling after all.
The show is created by Raj and DK and stars talented performers like Manoj Bajpayee, Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani who play pivotal roles among others. Even the late Asif Basra has a substantial role in this installment.
The Family Man 2 is set to release on 4th June and we are super excited about it.
