Binged Yearenders: Top 5 Acting Comebacks On OTT 2020

OTT platforms have been widely praised for their democratic nature and the level playing field they provide to actors, with zero biasness involved. They have proved this by bringing some wonderful actors back to the acting arena, where these amazing actors chose projects that brought out the absolute best in them. And it’s not just a mere comeback; these stars have returned to the screen in completely new avatars, leaving everyone in awe.

Here are the top 5 comebacks of 2020 –

5. Lara Dutta in Disney Plus Hotstar’s Hundred

Lara Dutta’s role of a cop in Disney Plus Hotstar’s crime thriller Hundred was something that she performed with energetic passion. The popular star returned to screen with a role that was as kickass as it was affecting – a woman cop, out to prove her mettle in a biased man’s world. But that’s not the only factor that made her stand out. It was her brilliant acting skills and dialogue delivery that just made it all seem easy-going.

4. Bobby Deol in MX Player’s Aashram

Though Bobby Deol was last seen on the big screen in ‘Housefull 4’ (2019), to say that ‘Aashram’ on MXPlayer was the comeback he needed wouldn’t be wrong. The way he dons the role of a self styled notorious godman is just incredible. The National Award winning director Prakash Jha has truly made Deol shine brilliantly through his character.

3. Sushmita Sen in Disney Plus Hotstar’s Aarya

Sushmita Sen made a solid comeback to acting with Disney+Hotstar’s ‘Aarya’ where she played the protagonist. Everyone who watched the crime-thriller series, was just in awe of this timeless beauty and her fabulous acting. Acing her role with utmost grace, as we had previously said, Sushmita Sen proves that once a diva, always a diva.

2. Arshad Warsi in Voot Select’s Asur

Arshad Warsi is mostly known for his comic roles as Circuit in ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ and Madhva in ‘Golmaal’ and their sequels. He came as a pleasant surprise in Voot Select’s mythological investigative-thriller series ‘Asur’, where he played the role of a composed yet egoistic forensic expert. This series brought to the fore a different shade of his acting skill that had remained largely unexplored until now. Arshad Warsi has very clearly shown that he is capable of much more than just comedy.

1. Abhishek Bachchan in Amazon Prime Video’s Breathe Into The Shadows, and Netflix’s Ludo

Abhishek Bachchan is one of the most underrated actors in the entertainment industry. Despite having given some very fine performances in film like Guru and also achieving commercial success through films like the Dhoom franchise, junior Bachchan has often remained under the radar. But his acting has been widely applauded in his recent OTT projects like ‘Breathe Into The Shadows’ on Amazon Prime Video and ‘Ludo’ on Netflix. Breathe was his comeback to screen after a gap of two whole years and he justified the role perfectly. His role in Anurag Basu’s Ludo as strong, silent, and angsty Bittu is even more astounding
