Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting foreign OTT films and shows such as ‘Mother/Android’, ‘The Tender Bar’, Black Mafia Family’, and ‘Abbott Elementary’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of the top five foreign titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Euphoria Season 2 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 10th January)
An adaptation of an Israeli show of the same name, ‘Euphoria’ features ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ actress Zendaya in the lead role of a troubled teenager named Rue Bennett, who portrays a recovering drug addict trying to find a place in society. The show narrates the goings-on in the eventful lives of a batch of high school students as they deal with various issues.
Eternals (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 12th January)
Helmed by Academy award-winning filmmaker Chloe Zhao, the superhero film follows a team of immortal superheroes called Eternals who have been secretly living on Earth with humans for thousands of years. However, after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, they must come out of hiding and use their special powers to protect mankind from Deviants – powerful ancient beings. It features a star-studded cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (Streaming on Book My Show from 13th January)
A sequel to the 1980s Ghostbuster movies and set 32 years after the events of the second film, ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ revolves around how a single mother and her two children relocate to a wrecked house in a small town in Oklahoma. There, the kids learn about their connection with the Ghostbusters and about their grandfather’s secret.
Archive 81 (Streaming on Netflix from 14th January)
Inspired by the podcast of the same name, ‘Archive 81’ is a mystery horror series that narrates the story of an archivist who is assigned the task of reconstructing damaged videotapes which were the works of a missing filmmaker, and how he gets embroiled in an ominous cult.
Hotel Transylvania 4 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 14th January)
It’s the fourth and final installment of the ‘Hotel Transylvania’ film series which follows the events that happen in the lives of Dracula and Johnny after Van Helsing’s invention goes awry. Dracula loses his powers while Johnny is an elated monster. In a race against time, together they must venture across the globe and find a cure for the same.
