Disney Plus dropped a little something this week, to whet the appetites of Marvel superhero fans – the trailer of its upcoming anthology series, Marvel 616. The trailer of the 8-episode anthology docuseries is incredibly energetic and rousing, taking superhero enthusiasts deep into the culture of Marvel superhero-dom.
The trailer reveals that each episode of the anthology will be helmed by a different person. We see ‘Community’ actresses Gillian Jacobs and Alison Brie, and creator Paul Scheer, indicating what’s to come in the Disney Plus series.
Marvel 616 casts an eye on various aspects of the slow creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The trailer starts with a glimpse into the work ethics and mantra of Stan Lee, creator of most Marvel superheroes. And of course, you are hooked. The Marvel 616 trailer then goes on to talk about how different elements come together to build the aura around the Marvel world, delving into cosplay, fandom, impact on popular culture and lots more.
Marvel 616 will also go into subjects such as the impact on public consciousness, had by Marvel and its maverick superheroes. It’ll delve into issues of inclusivity, such as the the rise of the female superhero, the black superhero Black Panther, and now, the first Muslim Superhero, Ms Marvel, aka Kamala Khan. Heck, there’s even mention of how a Japanese Spiderman came about!
Marvel 616 seems to be a fascinating look into the psyche of Marvel, and a must watch for every fan of the MCU. All eight episodes of the Marvel 616 docuseries release on Disney Plus on 20th November, 2020, and on Disney Plus Hotstar in India.
