It’s September already and there are many exciting Indian movie titles due for their OTT releases. So, we thought of doing a comparative analysis for some of the most anticipated Indian movies, that are expected to release on OTT platforms this September.
But how do we precisely quantify the anticipation around a film just before its release? One way is to observe the total number of views for the film’s official trailer recently released on YouTube. Another parameter can also be the number of likes (or dislikes) for the film’s trailer. But since we can consider just one, we have taken into account the total number of trailer views (at the time of writing the article) for films, to compile a list of the top five most anticipated Indian movies slated to release in the month of September.
These film trailers were released at different points of time in the last few weeks, and we have used total trailer views to ascertain the film’s current buzz. And in case there were two trailers of the same film, we have considered the first/original one uploaded by one platform, for all titles, for the sake of simplicity. So, that might have affected the actual anticipation factor around the film’s release.

So, as you can observe from the above data, the upcoming horror comedy movie ‘Bhoot Police’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam, and Jacqueline Fernandes tops the list as per trailer views and that too by a huge margin. Having said that, the official trailer for Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Tughlaq Durbar’ has been released recently, so the comparison might be unfair to the film.
And platform-wise, Disney+ Hotstar leads in this parameter as the most anticipated title ‘Bhoot Police’ will stream on the OTT platform. Moreover, Andhadhun’s remake ‘Maestro’ will also stream on the Disney+ Hotstar platform.
