OTT Players Not Worried About Clashing With Theatrical Releases!

Earlier this month, when there has been a hint about Nani‘s Tuck Jagadish releasing for Vinayaka Chaviti, we have seen the producer and other stakeholders of Love Story (a theatrical release) coming forward and making a huge noise against it. They tried their best to trouble the actor and the producers of Tuck Jagadish and force them to change their release date but finally, Amazon had the last laugh.

While the theater segment has its own inhibitions about the clash with OTT, the OTT players seem to be not very much worried. Last week, we had Nithiin‘s Maestro releasing directly on Disney+ Hotstar while Sundeep Kishan‘s Gully Rowdy was released in theaters. In the coming week, we have a biggie in Naga Chaitanya‘s Love Story releasing in theaters (on September 24th). On the same day, SonyLIV has lined up a small film, Aakashavaani for a direct to OTT release.

It is obvious that the OTT players will not have the locus-standi to demand the postponement of theatrical releases like the latter. But then, it is clear that they are not even trying to play safe by avoiding clashes with theatrical releases. Probably, these players would want to give an option to choose between the theater and the OTT.
