The Binged Guide To EVERY Film Releasing On OTT In May!

It is a confusing time for digital viewers. Tons of films are making their way to the OTT space in May. Every OTT platform has announced a bunch of releases this month.

In such a scenario, viewers are having a hard time remembering which movie is releasing on what date and on which platform – it’s a task to keep track of them all.

So we at Binged have compiled all upcoming OTT releases in one single list. Bookmark this list, to use as a handy guide for you to refer to and instantly know which movie is streaming where and on what date.

We will update this list as new releases are added to the slate of OTT releases. (Note: this is a list of only theatrical releases coming to OTT or direct to digital releases. It does not include original films of streaming platforms)

Hero – Kannada film, ZEE5 Kannada, 8 May midnight

This Rishabh Shetty film is a certified theatrical hit. It is a black comedy featuring Shetty as a barber who stumbles upon his ex-lover in the home of a notoriously bloodthirsty gang leader. Misadventures ensue when he tries to help her escape, with the gangster’s men in hot pursuit.

Nayattu – Malayalam film, Netflix, 8 May midnight

Nayattu is a neo noir survival drama, with actors Kunchacko Boban, Joju George and Nimisha Sanjayan in the lead roles. Three police officers are on the run after being wrongly accused of the murder of a goon, who incidentally is a dalit. The matter takes a political colour, as the state goes to elections.

Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele, Hindi film, Disney Plus Hotstar, 9th May

The film features a quirky story where a homosexual boy (Anshuman Jha) and a lesbian girl (Zareen Khan) embark on a road trip from New Delhi to Himachal. Along the way, they discover the love in friendship.

Minari – English film, Amazon Prime Video, 11th May

The film won an Oscar this year for Best Supporting Female Actor. It follows a family of Korean immigrants that endeavours to build a good life in rural Arkansas in the USA. In doing so, they realise the importance of home and family.

Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai – Hindi film, ZeePlex as paid VOD, 13th May

The Salman Khan starrer, directed by Prabhu Deva, features Salman in the titular role of ACP Radhe. After taking the dreaded gangster Gani Bhai, ACP Rajveer Shikawat aka Radhe goes on a manhunt to find the wealthiest man of the town secretly running a crime syndicate.

Karnan – Tamil film, Amazon Prime Video, 13th May midnight

Karnan is a certified theatrical hit. It stars Dhanush as Karnan, a fearless village youth, who must fight for the rights of the marginalised people of his village. The story portrays their struggles, unfairness, and finally their rise against casteism and police brutality by the hero and the entire village.

Nenjam Marappathillai – Tamil film, ZEE5 Tamil, 14th May

It is a horror thriller centred on a nanny of a young boy, who is gangraped and murdered by the boy’s father and his male employees. The nanny returns as a spirit to take her revenge on her wrong-doers.

Cinema Bandi, Telugu film, Netflix, 14th May

Cinema Bandi is a quirky comedy. It tells the story of a few young lads in a village who find an expensive camera left behind in an auto. They decide to make a film of their own with the camera. The story narrates their struggles to find the right cast and to make a film without know-how or knowledge.

Battala Ramaswamy Biopikku – Telugu film, ZEE5, 14th May

It is a comedy film about Ramaswamy, a kind and true gentleman with two ambitions – one is to have only a single wife like his Lord Rama and the second is to set up a saree business. He falls in love with Jayaprada, who is a vendor, and marries her. But later, due to some unforeseen circumstances, he ties the knot with two other women.

Tangra Blues – Bengali film, Hoichoi TV, 14th May

The story of the film is about a musical band in a slum of Kolkata, nurtured by band leader Sanjib Mondal (Parambrata Chatterjee). Musician Joyee (Madhumita Sarcar) is drawn by the performances of the band members – all of them slum kids. Then begins their musical journey and fight for a confident future in the shadows of vicious gang wars.

Wonder Woman 1984 – English film, Amazon Prime Video, 14th May

The superhero film is set in the backdrop of 1984, during the cold war. It has Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) facing off against villains Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) and Max Lord (Pedro Pascal), both of whom want to use the powers of the Dreamstone for their personal gain.

D Company – SPARK OTT, 15th May (Releasing in Both Hindi & Telugu).

D Company the film covers the part of DAWOOD IBRAHIM story between 1980 to 1982 of events leading to his brothers Murder.

Sardar Ka Grandson – Hindi film, Netflix, 18th May

Sardar Ka Grandson showcases the journey of a foreign-return grandson (Arjun Kapoor) who will go to any lengths to fulfil his grandmother Rupinder’s (Neena Gupta) last wish. The film also features a cross-border love story about Gursher Singh (John Abraham) and a young Rupinder (Aditi Rao Hyadri) set in flashback.

Kamali From Nadukkaveri – Tamil film, ZEE5, 21st May

Through the story of Kamali, a happy-go-lucky girl from the village of Nadukkaveri, the film gives inspiration on the importance of education to rise up in life and achieve success beyond a villager’s aspirations.
