Drushyam 2, the Telugu remake of Malayalam super hit, Drishyam 2 has locked its OTT release date. The makers have confirmed that the film is skipping theatrical release and premiering directly on OTT. The film will be made available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video from the 25th of November. The same is confirmed through the teaser that was unveiled a short while ago.
The teaser gives a glimpse of what is on offer and from what we can see, the Venkatesh starrer is a faithful remake of the original film, Drishyam 2, which has Mohanlal in the lead role. That is understandable, given the fact that Jeethu Joseph, who directed the original is helming the remake as well.
The teaser implies that Venkatesh, who plays the central role is neck-deep in trouble and he needs to be spot on with his trickery this time around if he and his family members are to escape unscathed. The stakes have never been higher. Suresh Babu, who produced the film had stated that they have made cosmetic changes to the script in order to suit the sensibilities of the native audience and these changes might well turn key as it is of great importance that Drushyam 2 is not a frame by frame remake of the original. Else, the film might draw flak.
Drushyam 2 is Venkatesh’s second consecutive direct to OTT release after Narappa, the Telugu remake of Asuran which also premiered on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year. Can he make it two in two? We have to wait and see.
