“A Straight Story” is a reinterpretation of the memory of a train ride from Poznan to Lublin in Poland. Almost all images of the film are static and assume the role of memory fragments that have withstood the passage of time. From the simulacrum of the trip, João Garcia Neto establishes a game of dichotomies, somewhere between the filmic and the photographic, experience and memory.
