5 Must Watch Indian Crime Films You Can Watch on Netflix

Time and again, Indian filmmakers have churned out some gems pertaining to the crime films genre. Some of them were dark and gritty. Some were based on true stories. While some black comedies were a fine blend of crime and dark humor.

We have carefully selected for you a list of five must-watch Indian crime films which you can watch over the weekend while staying at your home. All these films are currently streaming on the Netflix streaming platform. So, here we go:

Black Friday1. Black Friday

One of the finest films helmed by Anurag Kashyap, ‘Black Friday’ follows the events before and after the abominable 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.

The film received immense critical acclaim and Kay Kay Menon’s spellbinding act as a senior police official is still remembered as one of his finest performances.

Aamir2. Aamir

This one was television actor Rajeev Khandelwal’s acting debut and Raj Kumar Gupta’s (Director – No One Killed Jessica, Raid) feature film directorial debut. It revolved around Rajeev Khandelwal’s titular character, who, just after returning from London, unwillingly gets embroiled in a terrorist conspiracy which is orchestrated by an unknown caller.

The film was admired by critics for its realism and cinematography while the lead performance was also praised by the audience.

Nayattu3. Nayattu

Nayattu’ was recently released on the Netflix streaming platform. The film narrates the story of three police officers, who abscond together to a remote place, to evade arrest for a crime they apparently did not commit.

Owing to the political and media pressure, the police department initiates a vigorous manhunt to track down the three police officers.

The film has been receiving wide critical acclaim for its taut direction, enthralling cinematography, and realistic performances. Not to be missed.

Talvar4. Talvar

Helmed by gifted filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, ‘Talvar’ is based on the double murder case of a teenage girl and the family servant.

Talvar’ received enormous acclaim for its adept direction and lead performances by Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Neeraj Kabi, amongst other filmmaking parameters. The film gave the vibe of an intriguing true-crime documentary.

Parinda5. Parinda

Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film follows the story of two brothers Kishan and Karan (played by Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor), who find themselves on conflicting sides of morality. When Karan’s friend is killed by an underworld don (Nana Patekar), he vows to avenge his death.

Rightly regarded as a landmark film, ‘Parinda’ reinvented the way the Mumbai underworld was portrayed in Indian cinema. The film had won multiple Filmfare awards besides winning two National Film Awards.
