1976, Chile. Carmen goes to the beach to supervise the renovation of her house. Her husband, children and grandchildren come and go during the winter holidays. When her family’s priest asks her to look after a young man she is secretly hosting, Carmen wades into unfamiliar waters, far from the quiet life she is used to.
