The beginning of the XIX century. Pechorin is a Russian officer serving in the Caucasus. He falls in love with the daughter of the local prince Bela and persuades her brother Azamat to abduct his sister. In exchange, Pechorin helped Azamat steal a horse from the dashing horseman Kazbich. Placing Bela in his fortress, Pechorin long courtship seeks her love.
