Au nom du père

In 1940s’ rural Quebec, Marguerite assists her sister Aimée who’s been in painful labour for hours. Alerted by the midwife that a caesarean is necessary, their father leaves to seek the village doctor. While hope is reborn on Joseph’s return, the sisters are quickly disenchanted: it’s the reverend who accompanies their father instead. Marguerite then has no choice but to take her sister’s fate into her own hands.
