Jamtara is a Netflix Original series in Hindi that explores the grim reality of Jamtara, a small district in Jharkhand, made up of numerous small villages, all of which are engaged in one occupation – phishing. A bunch of tech-savvy youngsters becomes adept at swindling cash from wealthy city folk with the help of an online scamming set-up, collectively called phishing. The plot soon turns sinister, with murders and disappearances, with the entry of a crime lord wanting a slice of the pie and a police officer wanting to bust the ring. Directed by National award-winning director Saumendra Padhi, and starring Amit Sial, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and a host of lesser-known actors.
