The American edit of the original 1962 film. New footage with American actors was inserted along with several scenes deleted and altered to Americanize the film. Much of the original soundtrack was also removed. Due to the licensing deal between Toho and Universal the American edit is the primary and most widely available and viewed version of the film outside of Japan.
