December 1941, Northwestern Front. Soviet pilot Nikolai Komlev makes a combat mission to stop a German tank column moving towards the capital. Komlev’s plane is shot down by enemy fighters, but he still manages to land the car in a remote forest clearing. It would seem that the worst is over: Komlev managed to survive in an air battle. However, the tests are just beginning – overcoming hunger, cold, bypassing packs of wolves and detachments of Germans, the wounded pilot has a hard way to salvation …
