In one of the most sparsely populated areas of Europe, Gascony in southwest France, Dr Jean Cadéot is not just any veterinarian, he is something special: “Il est une vedette” – he is a star, people say. The stories told about him entwine around him like a laurel wreath. Cadéot risks extraordinary things and doesn’t stick to rules. He always takes the direct route, which makes him credible in any situation. Dr Cadéot is now well over 90 years old. His slender figure appears youthful despite his advanced age. Cadéot is still working. And he is amused by it. Although his eyesight is getting worse, he treats his animal patients with all his senses.
