In 1969, the city of Juazeiro do Norte inaugurated a large concrete statue to honor its most famous and beloved resident: Father Cicero Romão Batista. On that year’s All Souls’ Day, the pilgrimage and devotion, trade and politics around the figure of Father Cicero.
