Crack is a Netflix original documentary series that takes you behind the history of one of the most glamorous drugs and how it became a status symbol in the 80s.
In the 80s a sudden wave of a free culture and lifestyle took place and while this revolution took many by surprise it had its fair share of side effects. People in the documentary even state that it was a ‘Gold rush’ as people were coming from everywhere to get their hands on this new fancy drug. The government was turning a blind eye to cocaine smuggling in their bid to defeat communism in central America but things were slowly deteriorating and it played perfectly into the biases and prejudices that are held against certain races.
Crack takes a look at the corruption and the and conspiracy that destroyed the lives of several youth in the country and how the black community were targeted in its garb.
